Radical Domesticities

Radical Domesticities explores how architecture pertains to what we might refer to as ‘the political’: the broad social and economic conditions that inform how architecture is produced and occupied over time. Wealth distribution and capital accumulation, forms of everyday life and collectivity, experimental models of ownership and alternative governance structures—these are just some of the ways in which architecture mediates the political today. Radical Domesticities therefore asks what architecture, as both a profession and a discipline, can do to contribute to a more equitable society in real terms. Each year, special guests are invited to address a specific thematic relevant to the Radical Domesticities stream. In 2021, they will be exploring architecture’s entanglements with financialization and debt.
