Ken McBryde – Koala Rehabilitation & Tourist Education Precinct

A new tourism project is to be established in the Cowarra State Forest, approximately 2 hours North of Newcastle. The precinct will include a koala rehabilitation centre, and showcase sustainably sourced North coast hardwood timbers. We will be learning from the Bunyah & Birpai Peoples’ including adopting their traditional fire management practices & art.

In this hands-on elective, working with Ken McBryde you get to design a perimeter fence that Koalas can’t climb, and integrate entry feature walls, art & signage on the Oxley highway into the precinct. There is potential to work with, and incorporate the art of the local Birpai and Bunyah Aboriginal artists.
