Yi Min ‘Mike’ Xie & Nic Bao – Intelligent Forms _ Lecture/Workshop ▶

This Event investigates the increased and sophisticated form finding capabilities that computational design technology has introduced to Architectural Design. A closer look to “morphological evolution” methods is seeking ways to generate architectural forms inspired from natural processes. Mike Xie will present his cutting-edge method (BESO) of topology optimization that finds solutions with the highest structural performance under certain material limitations by removing or adding material elements step by step.

In the follow up workshop, Nic Bao will discuss in detail the method through the use of Ameba software and guide students through testing this new approach to generative architectural design.
