Kadambari Baxi – Building Activism ▶
Excerpting from my exhibition and research practice, I will discuss recent collaborative projects where concerns for labor and human rights spur different forms of architectural activism. Projects include: WBYA? (Who Builds Your Architecture?), an advocacy group that examines challenges faced by migrant construction workers on architectural sites and advocates for fair labor practices: Building Information, a recent exhibition on construction sites and digital labor; Trigger Planting and Found (abortion) Monument, two installations on reproductive rights; and Climate Justice WTF, an essay-film on rights to safe climate futures. These projects collectively outline new agendas for practicing activism in architecture.
